20 Franc Face Value.

The 20 Franc Rooster coin was issued by the Paris mint form 1899 until 1914, when WWI broke out. These coins contain 5.8 grams of gold bullion, and the coins have a purity of 900, which was the standard for gold coins at that time. The toal weight of each coin is 6.45 grams. The front of each coin features an image of a Rooster, the national bird of France, with the French slogan 'Liberte, Egalite, Fraternite' written at the top. The bottom of each coin features its face value and its year of minting. The reverse side of each coin features an image of 'Marianne', with a laurel in her hair. The words 'Republique Francaise' encircle her portrait. France has released several other small gold coins, the most famous of which is the French Napoleon.

Many other European countries also launched their own gold coins, also with a weight of 5.8 grams. These include the Belgian Francs, the Italian Lira coin, and the Dutch Guilder.

Each French Marianne contains 5.8 grams of gold.
