Design of the 1/10 Ounce Gold Lunar Tiger Coin

These coins feature an image of Queen Elizabeth II on the front. The top of each coin reads 'Elizabeth II' and 'Australia'. At the base of the coin is its fineness of 9999, its metal type which is AU (which is the symbol for gold), its weight of 1/10 troy ounces, and the coin's face value, which is $10 AUD. This means that the government of Australia has guaranteed to back each 1/10 Ounce gold coin to a value of $10 AUD.

The reverse side of each coin features an image of a tiger. The Tiger is an animal that symbolizes strength and leadership in Chinese history and is an image that has been used to represent both Kings and Emperors in the past. The Tiger also symbolises protection and is symbolic of an Emperor protecting his country. The image of a Tiger is also used to symbolise the protection of children.
