The British Sovereign gold coin is the most popular gold coin among gold investors in the UK, and is recognised worldwide.
Each gold sovereign contains 7.32 grams of gold bullion. The front of each gold Sovereign features a portrait image of Queen Elizabeth II, and the reverse features an image of George slaying the Dragon.
Sovereign gold coins are produced by the Royal Mint and have been in circulation for 200 years.
The Royal Mint also produce the British Britannia series of coins, which are available in gold and in silver, and the Queen's Beasts coins, which are also available in gold and silver.
The British Sovereign is only available in gold. The Sovereign is also available in half Sovereign and double Sovereign sizes, however these are less common.
